Feisty Fawn, the name of the latest development branch of Kubuntu, extends the new infrastructure that landed in Edgy Eft and branches out in some exciting new directions. Feature developments in the Feisty Fawn release include improvements to hardware support on laptops, desktops, and high-end servers and aggressive adoption of emerging desktop technologies.
The Beta release is the sixth in a series of milestone CD images that will be released throughout the Feisty development cycle as images known to be reasonably free of CD-build or installer bugs. These images represent very current snapshots of Feisty. Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn Beta releases can be downloaded from the following URL:

NOTE: This is a beta release. Pre-release versions of Feisty ARE recommended for Kubuntu developers and those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs.

New In Feisty Beta
The Feisty Fawn Beta CD release brings many new and exciting applications. For this latest release of Kubuntu 7.04, usability is the common theme. Additionally, there have been updates to many common applications and changes to the default database application in Kubuntu. With every new pre-release, updates will be documented allowing you to thoroughly test your Kubuntu 7.04 installation. Remember that all of these features are part of a pre-release version of Kubuntu and may still have issues. We ask that for any problems you encounter that you file a bug if one has yet to be filed for your symptoms.
Kubuntu Distribution Upgrade Tool
KMenu -> System -> Adept Manager (Manage Packages)

For users of Kubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft), you can now upgrade seamlessly to 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) by using the new dist-upgrade tool implemented in the Adept Package Manager.
KMenu -> Graphics -> digiKam (Photo Management)
The latest digiKam release brings major improvements as well as bug fixes. digiKam is the advanced digital photo management application for KDE which makes importing and organizing digital photos into albums easy. Some of the new improvements include:
- Native JPEG2000 support
- Tag view supports drag and drop
- Batch tool to sync all metadata
- Usability features everywhere and more
Topic Based Help

New in Kubuntu, and one of the first times ever, Topic Based Help for system documentation. This first implementation creates an excellent base for future topics to be integrated easily. Currently the GNOME and KDE projects in combination with the Free Desktop project are currently in the designing phase for a universal topic based help system which will make searching documentation easier than ever.
Though the OEM Installer is not new with Kubuntu, the layout and look is new. Following usability directions from members in the KDE and Kubuntu communities the new OEM Installer is better than ever. Under the covers it has also been ported to Qt 4, ready for the move to KDE 4.
